Calling the tune

Why, surely everyone can see That we're more skilled than thee — or thee.

You'll see how we can call the tune, And grant the really priceless boon Of leisure to twelve thousand men, Who should be grateful to us when They find they need not work each day, But have an unpaid holiday.

We'll keep some more cars from the road, And so assist the Highway Code. Because we mute our tuning fork, There'll be more people who will walk, And so take healthy exercise, Which is a blessing in disguise. We've now got backing from kind Hugh, Who'll pay us from the AEU. Our mates will gladly see us paid To put us in a higher grade. You'll pay the piper very soon, For -don't you see — we'll call the tune.
