POSTSCRIPT TO THE WEEK'S NEWS.

SPECTATOR OFFICE, SATURDAY, Two o'ctoca.

We have accounts from St. Petersburg this morning, which state that the Emperor of Russia has given orders for extensive military prepara- tions. He now appears determined to put down the insurrection in Poland by force of arms. The negotiations, however, which had been commenced, were not broken off.

Letters from Berlin revive the report that a constitution is in prepa- ration for Prussia ; adding, that " the best-informed persons" entertain great doubts whether the want of such a constitution as is intended is felt by the people generally.

Our accounts from the country this morning are all favourable; neither the letters nor papers which we have received make mention of any particular outrage or fires. The official accounts received at the Home Office to-day, are, we understand, also favourable.
