The second and final volume of Further Dialogues of the

Buddha, translated by Lord Chalmers (Oxford University Press, 12s. 6d.) has more " human interest " than the former had. But both books are of great and particular importance to students of Eastern religions. The Buddha said much about good health and right breathing ; it is curious that we in the West, who are interested in such matters, do not more seriously attempt to understand the teaching of the Enlightened One when he recommended his Almsmen to sit at the foot of a tree, cross legged, with body erect and in mindfulness first draw in the breath and in mindfulness to exhale it and " to dwell thus unflagging, ardent, purged of self so that all the worldly thoughts that idly come and go are abandoned." Some Western psychologist may one day discover that b:mi such methods " the heart within grows stablished and plant fast."
