Mote and beam

Sir: How dare John Gross complain of the dishonesty of the film The Atomic Cafe (11 December) when his own article is at least as tendentious. It is not true that the reviews `without exception' endorsed the film's viewpoint, and one of the ones he quotes from (the Financial Times, 26 November) is cogently scathing about the inherent propa- ganda, for reasons similar to his own. In writing of what can be achieved by `selec- tion, omission, artful juxtapositon, misplaced emphasis', he proves his point, unfortunately.
