A public meeting was held at Willis's Rooms, to-day, to

open a public subscription for a tribute of respect to be erected in memory of the late Duke of Sussex. The Marquis of Northampton, President of the Royal Society, occupied the chair ; the Duke of Sutherland, the Marquis of Breadalbane, the Earl of Rosebery, and the Bishop of Durham, took each a leading part ; and many other noblemen and gentlemen were present. The resolutions passed without opposition, except from Cap- tain Atcherley.
