The Times correspondent in Ireland points to the remarkable fact

that while the Presbyterians nearly equal the Episcopalians in number, they have no representative in the House of Commons. They are, it seems, awkwardly situated. They are generally Liberals, but they hate the Catholics, and as they cannot carry Liberal candidates without Catholic help, they. either vote for Conservatives who share their hatred, or do not vote at all. Con- sequently they are not represented, and some of their leaders are now making efforts to select Presbyterians for whom Catholics will be willing to vote. If they succeed, the Liberal party in Ireland will receive a strong reinforcement.
