We have before us the fifth edition of A Latin-English

Dictionary, by the Rev. John T. White, D.D., and the Rev. J. E. Riddle. (Long- mans.)—This is the fullest form of the dictionary. and is indeed a very complete work. We have applied such tests as limited time and oppor- tunity permitted, and found the result very satisfactory. The un- common usages, for instance, in the first book of Lucretius were. invariably supplied, and it was clear that the compiler had consulted the best authorities on the subject. The volume consists of more than two thousand quarto pages, closely printed in triple columns, and is indeed a thesaurus Latinitatis, including the literature, at least in WM& representative part, of the first seven centuries of our era.
