on " counting out rhymes" is The Counting-out Rhymes of Children : Their Antiquity, Origin, and Wide Distribution. A Study in Folk-lore," by H. C. Bolton. (London : Elliot Stock, 1888.) It deals very fully with the subject in quite twenty languages. Another book that might be useful for reference purposes as to the words for figures in different languages is "On Numerals as Signs of Primmval Unity among Mankind," by the Rev. R. Ellis B.D.
