Reproof
Sir: I have just read the review by Philip Hope-Wallace headed 'Brighter once' in your issue of 6 May. As the author of the Shell Guide to East Sussex I am grateful for the mention of it; but I am surprised at his reference to Arundel Castle, which is not in East Sussex. To any informed person it looks as if either he has not read the Guide, or the author has gone mad. Incidentally Carcassonne is wrongly spelt, and I note three other misspellings — viz, line 18 brittanique for britannique, line 21 Sassons for Sassoons, and line 28 gluttinous which should presumably be gluttonous rather than glutinous.
I am wearily accustomed to this sort of thing in the national dailies, but am sorry that the disease should have spread to the Spectator.
