Gay, and not so gay, Nazis

From Mr Stephen Schick Sir: Diana Mosley (`Nothing queer about Hitler', 25 May) is, of course, correct in saying that Ernst Rohm was executed for political reasons rather than for his homosexual activities, and that many Nazis were gay. She fails to mention, however, that thousands of German homosexuals died in concentration camps under the Nazi regime, and that many others were persecuted by the Gestapo solely because of their sexual orientation.

The realisation that one should 'live and let live' appears to have come to Lady Mosley rather late in life. It was certainly not a view held by her friends Joseph and Magda Goebbels.
