In Dr. Archibald Henderson's immense new biography of Bernard Shaw,

recently published in the United States, occurs this• extract from a letter by CBS: 'Yesterday, at Massinghanz's, John Burns came in. We meant to have a great political council; but we mostly relaxed and frivolled. (By the way, remind me to tell you . . . the story of the clergyman and the dentist. It doubled up both M and B). . . .' Unfortunately, this rib-bender remains untold. Will com- petitors, for a prize of six guineas, supply the missing story so that we may all he doubled up?
