[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] Sia,—I don't know what authority your reviewer may think he has for saying that John Peel wore a white beaver hat. I doubt his using two hats and the authentic portrait of him in Canon Rawnsley's book shows him in a black top hat with a black silk neckerchief and no collar. I don't remember the shoes but have not the picture at hand.—I am, Sir, &e.,
