Dreams by French, Firesides. Stories by Richard Leander. Trans- lated

from the German by J. Raleigh. (A. and C. Black.)—A curious title this, and not, we think, a very happy one. Who would imagine that a " French Fireside " was the hearth of a house deserted by its inhabitants during the siege of Paris ? The author wrote these fairy-stories—for such they are—during the winter of 1870-71, and sent them home to his family. The stories are simple and pretty enough, and the illustrations are good.
