CHURCH AUTONOMY.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR.")

Sete—Among " the appalling faults of the Church of England," for .which a good Churchman " will expect and even welcome divine judgment," Bishop Gore reckons " its abandonment of the exercise of its own proper autonomy " (sermon at St. Margaret's Church, Leicester, reported in the Guardian of October 16th). It would be interesting to know at what stage of its history the Church of England enjoyed autonomy, and when the exercise thereof was abandoned.—I am, Sir, &c., Criers.
