The principal Bills promised in the Speech deal with increased

settlement and employment upon the land, large-scale farming, the reclamation of land, and the organization of producers for marketing purposes ; the taxation of land values ; the raising of the school age ; the amendment of the Trade Disputes Act ; a Consumers' Council ; town-planning and the preservation of rural amenities ; the consolidation of the Factory Acts ; Electoral Reform ; the Washington Hours Convention ; the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea ; and the creation of a new statutory authority for London passenger traffic.
