MEDICAL BOOKS

First Aid for Everybody. By A. J. 13. Goldsmith. (Faber and Faber. 2s. ad.) Taus is a useful, simply written work which, however, scarcely justifies its claim on the wrapper to " be' an up-tekiate book, based on the latest medical practice." .It is, for 'exeiniple, not quite " up-to-date " to omit from the section on burns any mention of tannic acid—the use of which has reduced the fatality from burns to a fraction of its previous appalling Num. The illustrations -are clear and useful, and the arrangement of the matter is such as to make the information easily found in emergency ; but this little book cannot hope to replace the excellent semi-official manuals already in existence.
