MONEY MARKET.

Perocz EXCHANGE, Fiunsy AFTERNOON..

The Money Market has been. characterized dulling the week by quiet and steadiness. On Thursday the decline of a quarter per cent on the Paris Bourse caused a marked dulness ; but the transactions were small, and where accommodation was desired, it was not difficult to obtain ; the discount market being easy: Today there has.been a decided accession of firmness, though. without any important transactions. The-Government broker has bought the usual amount of stock, viz. 5,000/. Consols, for the Com- missioners. of the Savings Banks. At the improved prices, Consols were quoted at 95/ to /. The settlement of the Foreign.account on Wednesday caused but a slight demand for money, but as.we have said the influence was not marked. Stoadi neas tending to flatness characterized all the proceedings; the advices from the Continent describing the same absence of speculative business which is observed' at home ; the uncertainty in the political horizon contributing to cheek enterprise on the great money centres of Europe. The rates of dis-. count—at most places not above 3 per cent, at Frankfort 21, and at Ham- burg only.li—indicate the flatness occasioned by forbearance, and not by reaction.= excess_ The financial measures of Russia have promoted a re.. covery. of the exchange oir St. Petersburg.
