The seat that is to be vacated by Mr. Gavan Duffy is eagerly sought for. The Conservatives have pat forward Mr. Tottenham.for some time; now Mr. John Reynolds courts the suffrages of the electors. It is asserted, however, that the.Young .Irelanders, represented by Mr. Duffy, have, through their leader Father Doyle, besought the retiring patriot not to resign until a suitable successor shall have been found ; and that Mr. Daffy hits consented to place his letter of resignation in the hands of the-priest, to be used at the right moment.

The Commission of Inquiry into the Endowed Schools of Ireland are discovering some turious facts. The St. Stephen's Bluecoat School in Cork receives from its lands 8231., and educates eighteen boys. The oc- cupation rental is over 60001. per annum. It appears that the Corpora- tion leased the hinds in perpetuity at a low rent in 1807. Happily there are some schools not quite so improperly managed.
