The results of such propaganda are exactly what might be

expected. Outrages occur daily, and those who are not Sinn Feiners live in terror of their lives. One of Lord Ashtown's tenants who is a Unionist and Protestant—to take only one example of the intimidation of farmers—has received a threaten- ing letter requiring him to give up the farm of fifty-three acres which he proposed to work with the help of his brother, a de- mobilized soldier. Already shots have been fired into the house. The letter informs him that the last warning has been given, that " the land-grabbing days are past," and that if he " holds on " to the land he will be " shot without further notice."
