A. West India mail, with newspapers and letters from the

various 'islands, was received to-day, by the Delight packet, which sailed from St. Thomas's on the 21st January and from Cape Henri on the 26th. The news is not unfavourable, though of little interest.

From the Guiana Times of the I Ith January we learn, that Sir - Henry /knead, the temporary Governor of British Guiana, was on the -point of returning to Trinidad, after a completely successful mission : he had obtained a civil list for seven years—not such as-Governor Light had demanded, but liberal and satisfactory, and for the educational and snoral institutions far more than had been asked. On the other hand, the Government have yielded to the colonists their much-desired Immi- gration Ordinance.
