The Church of the Living God. By Herbert H. Jeaffreson.

(Swan Sonnenschein and Co.)—Mr. Jeaffreson takes a full and definite statement of what, to use a familiar phrase, may be called the Doctrine of Apostolical Succ ession as the foundation of his Christian theory. But he also finds a place for Christian effort in societies which do not fulfil the conditions of this doctrine. He has also some notable observations on the present condition of the Anglican Communion. We have no hesitation in saying that this is a remarkably lucid and powerful statement. To discuss it in detail would carry us very far.
