Mr. S. C. Hill has published a readable biography of

Yusuf Khan (Longmans and Co.,10s. 6d. net), whom Sir John Malcolm described as "the bravest and ablest of all the native soldiers that ever served the English in India," and who ended his remarkable career by being banged as a rebel in 1764. The work is largely based on hitherto unpublished manuscript., and leads down a romantic byway in Indian history.
