Strikfeldt smear

Sir: With his full-blooded enthusi- asm for the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia Commander Edgar Young (13 February) at least con- firms his position as an orthodox Stalinist-Brezhnevite. This reduces one's surprise that he can carry on a long polemic in your columns about a book which he persists in showing no sign of having read. lf, however, one day, he plucks up the courage to dip into W. Strik- Strikfeldt's Against Stalin and Hitler, he will find that—contrary to his own demonology—the pro- Russianness and anti-Nazism of the author are central strands of a very useful book and that General Vla- sov was motivated primarily by patriotism.
