On Tuesday, the House of Commons again discussed unemployment. Mr.

Thomas said that he proposed to make the Unemployment Grants Committee, generally known as the St. Davids Committee, a statutory body. He was also setting up. a new Committee to help public utility enterprises, both municipal and private. It is noticeable that in all his schemes Mr. Thoinas wisely refuses to distinguish between publicly and privately managed concerns. He is ready to help any sort Of undertaking which he thinks will provide employment. The Treasury, he explained, would accept responsibility up to a total of £25,000,000. All this is tantamount to 'a revival of the Trade Facilities Scheme.
