SIR,-1 am endeavouring to collect material for a possible biography

of my husband, G. D. H. Cole, who died in 1959.

As your readers are probably aware, the scope of his activities was wide; but he kept very few'personal papers. I should be grateful, therefore, if any of your readers who may have preserved letters or notes from him bearing on any part of his life— especially, of course, the less-recent ones--would let me see them. Any documents received would be very carefully copied and returned with all speed to the owners.

. Might I ask that any response to this appeal should be made soon, since neither documents nor their owners arc immortal? If letters or other documents could be sent, with any instructions for return, to me,

c/o Mr. H. L. Davies, `Taradale; Ramley Road, Pennington, Lymington, Hants it would very much facilitate matters.
