Telegraph trinity

Sir: Peter Stothard is correct when he specu- lates (Letters, 29 June) that I have not yet joined the ranks of 'the great and good'. However, I did derive some benefit from the Toynbee affair of which he writes. After being a Times and Sunday Times reader for more than 40 years I decided, following the former's contrived involvement in the Toyn- bee episode, to investigate the Daily Tele- graph and Sunday Telegraph as possible alter- natives. Finding myself much better suited, I made the change to both Telegraphs.

My long-time subscription to The Specta- tor, taken in conjunction with the Telegraphs, brings a welcome symmetry to my reading.
