On Thursday, June 11th, the Secretary of State for Air

announced that the Cabinet had approved a scheme for developing a Civil Air Service between Egypt and India, via El Kantara, Amman, Baghdad and Basra to Karachi. The commercial success of the venture will probably depend upon a substantial subsidy in return for carrying mails, which should save about six days in transit, and upon the provision by the British, Iraq or Indian Government of land and buildings free of charge.
