Church Youth Council The Youth Council of the Church of

England recently set up by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York has issued a statement of its policy and plans. Its functions are advisory, and it is to act as a means of pooling experi- ence, working out suggestions, and accumulating know- ledge, which bodies and individuals doing youth work of any kind may utilise. The inspiration is to be definitely religious and Anglican, but important secular implicationS are stated, notably The practice of a thoroughgoing fellowship which surmounts all barriers of class, nationality, or race.

Under the vigorous chairmanship of the Archbishop of York the new body is not likely to be idle. Its institution, following that of-a similar body by the Methodist Church, is a welcome sign that organised Christianity in England is widening and modernising its outlook upon the needS of modern young people.
