We regret the departure of all these things deeply for

senti- mental reasons, but they leave the law for the law's good. Business is business, and we shall get on better without them. In future there will be only two systems of land tenure—freehold and leasehold for a term of years. The Statute of Uses will be repealed. It is proposed to prevent land from being split up into legally undivided shares. The transference of land will be so simplified that it may be transferred from one owner to another almost as easily as- stocks and shares. As regards registration of land, it is provided that there shall be no extension of compulsory registration till the Act has been in operation for ten years.
