PATALING RUBBER

With'the decline in the rubber consumption of the U.S.A., which dropped by a further 2,503 tons in April, rubber chair- men are naturally laying more stress on the development of the newer uses for rubber. Mr. H. Eric Miller, at the meeting of Pataling Rubber Estates last week, had a good deal to say about the development of rubber street paving which has recently been adopted for Cornmarket Street, in Oxford, and for Lombard Street, in the City of London. Rubber street- paving, he said, had now passed out of the experimental field. He announced that the company will increase the planted area of the Katumba estate next year, when the new rubber-regula- tion scheme allowing a limited amount of new planting comes into force.
