Female squatters

From Mr J.H. Forster Sir: I am surprised that in response to the rather coy exchanges about whether to stand or sit (Letters, 13 May) no one has yet called attention to the national crusade being mounted in the United States against the monstrous injustice inflicted by nature on the multitudes of women who resent being forced to join queues and risk contact with contaminated surfaces. This crusade is masterminded by a lady of impeccable medical qualifications and unbounded enthusiasm, whose aim it is to teach women that they should no longer adopt the igno- minious crouch but should instead stand proudly shoulder to shoulder (figuratively, of course) with their menfolk in the inter- ests of natural justice and convenience.

Any visitor to her website (www• restrooms.org) will be impressed, not least by the fervour of the support from her lady disciples. Her expertise in the art of obtain- ing relief while wearing jeans, without dis- arranging or wetting them any more than a man would, is quite inspirational.
