The Augsburg Gazette publishes a note addressed by the Dutch

Government to the Ambassadors at the Hague, and to the States of the Customs Union, explaining the refusal ofthe King of Holland, as Grand Duke of Luxemburg, to accede to that Union. The King disclaims - political motives; pleads his right to consider treaties in reference to their utility for his people; and declares that the majority of the people of Luxemburg are against joining the Union, because it would pre- clude their making independent commercial treaties With other coun- tries, especially France and Belgium.
