Wilson and the Arabs

Sir: It seems that Mr Harold Wilson puts grievous responsibility for the recent Arab-Israeli war on Arabs only. Whose responsibility are the 1948, 1956 and 1967 wars?

In 1948 Labour were in power when Palestine was liquidated, Israel created, the Palestinians massacred and driven to refugee camps. Their homes were given to the illegal immigrants from the four corners of the world. Minutes after the British Mandatory Force withdrew, the plan was meticulously executied, as its details were precisely planned. Who was responsible?

Mr Wilson does not protest when Arabs are hit savagely. At the Munich incident he went berserk, asked for cancellation of the Egyptian Foreign Minister's visit and suggested the introduction of legislation to close the Palestinian Liberation Office in London. But no word was heard from him when the Government of Israel retaliated, killing 400 innocents in Syria and the Lebanon.

He is very biased toards Israel. Some wonder whether he hates Arabs or is a fanatic Zionist. I think he is neither. He aims at the Jewish votes at the next. election. Mrs Meir undiplomatically hailed him as the next British Prime Minister during last year's Socialist Convention at Strasbourg, giving the green signal for the Jews to back him. This is a dangerous game Harold Wilson is playing by introducing this method of catching votes. Perhaps he is copying the US. M. Edwards 28 Drax Avenue, London SW20.
