OF THE " SPECTATOR.") SIR,—I beg to be allowed to say that every word of the article in the Spectator of the 13th inst. is strictly true as far as nis experience goes. I got over the difficulty of "Dependant " by writing "Partly." Unless the authorities in the War Office form think widows only apply, the reason for the question, " Have you married again?" under our marriage laws is inexplicable. I find many of the husbands cannot sign their names. I also find that the applicants have no idea of how to
