Of these compositions by Mr. THOMSON, the first is a lively, agree- able melody, and the second an air of great sweetness and pathos. Both

are distinguished by correct taste, and by that degree of musical skill which knows when and how to apply with effect the more hidden mys- teries of the art. The name of a London publisher is affixed to the ballad.
