There is no news from Natal, except reports of affairs

of out- posts in the neighbourhood of Elandslaagte, but the armies are watching each other narrowly, and the patrols are very active. It is said that the Boer force numbers fifteen thousand men, and that all the ridges between Sunday River and Dundee are elaborately fortified. If the Boer numbers are really as great as they are estimated, our troops in Natal are doing as good service as is possible. Those fifteen thousand men are badly wanted by the Boers in the Free State.
