Through the good offices of the Oversea Settlement Committee, the

British Government, the Australian Government, and the State Government of Victoria have entered into an agreement for the settlement in Victoria during the next five years of 10,000 new emigrants from Great Britain. Arrangements are already being made whereby 2,000 of these can be settled at once. It is proposed to provide each settler with a farm whose value shall be not less than £300. The farms will range in size from fifteen to twenty-five acres in the irrigated districts to 640 acres in the " dry " districts. Provision will be made by the State Government for the practical inspection and supervision of the settlers in regard to the development of their farms.
