and counter-marches, durbars and discussions in the old days in India (1764-1787), when the gold mohur tree was shaken by nabobs, and John Company reigned supreme in the " land of regrets." There is something of interest in- these pages for Anglo-Indians, but a good deal

of it is dull stuff.
