Mr Ronald Harwood In his Television column in our issue

dated 7 April Richard Ingrams made Certain allegations about Ronald Harwood concerning two of the television Programmes which he has recently presented. We now recognise that these allegations were entirely false: it was quite untrue to suggest that having been• Involved in the adaptation for television of all Roald Dahl's short stories in the book Tales of the Unexpected he deliberately arranged for the book to be favourably reviewed shortly beforehand on Read All About It, or that having adapted the book The Ordeal of Gilbert Pinfold by Evelyn Waugh for the stage he used the occasion of the seventy-fifth anniversary of Waugh's birth to mount a television programme on the subject Shortly before the play opened. Accordingly we unreservedly apologise to Ronald Harwood for any embarrassment which we have caused him.
