The almost immediate response of the City was. a fall

in Government securities. Some Liberal newspapers have written as though the City—apparently in this case the stockbrokers—can manipulate a fall of this sort just to score off Mr. Lloyd George. But it should surely be obvious that demands for buying and selling which come from all over the .world could not be manipulated at a few hours' notice, even- if stockholders were willing to follow the advice of their brokers for political reasons.
