The Field of Clover. By Laurence Housman. (Kogan Paul, Trench,

and Co. 6s.)—The stories in this book are very attractive. The first one is worked out on the traditional fairy-tale plan, in which the kind-hearted hero shows hospitality to uncongenial guests, and consequently meets with good luck in all his adven- tures. The full-page wood engravings are good. Mr. Housman has the art of making his fantastic people and things appear natural, at least in fairyland.
