" SPECTATOR."] SIN,—Permit me to express my admiration of the restraint shown in your editorial note to the letter in your issue of January 14th signed " S. B. L.-T." If the writer will recall to his mind that while during the War you were urging every. one to adopt the King's Pledge, and though not an advocate of total abstinence in ordinary times you refused to accept any advertisements of alcoholic liquors whatsoever, thus sacrific- ing not only present profit but future goodwill, he will, I hope, be thoroughly ashamed of himself, and say so!—I am, Sir, &c.,
