Snt,—During 1948 wages in this country have risen by over a hundred million pounds. Could not, therefore, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, when framing his forthcoming Budget, do something to alleviate the lot of those whose incomes have in no way increased since 1939, amongst whom are nearly all the clergy and ministers of every religious denomina- tion, and certainly not add to the burden which they and their families
