Big appetite

Sir: Your readers must be tired of seeing my name, which appeared too many times in last week's issue, but I hope I can correct two errors in my Diary (14 July). Sir John Donaldson, as I refer to the Master of the Rolls, is of course now Lord Donaldson. I apologise to him and to you. But as readers may have guessed, my mysterious claim that 'The lady who's a tramp got 200 for dinner at 8.00' was an aural mistran- scription. She didn't entertain on anything like that scale: she got too hungry for din- ner at eight. In this case it is you who owe her an apology.
