On Wednesday thel th instant, a Sheriff's officer from Maeeltester went to Wigan to arrest the Honourable Adolphus Falser, an officer of the Eighty-sixth Ilegiment of Foot, now stationed at Wigan, tier a debt due to parties in Manchester. The next day, however, Plunkett and Cash were taken into custody, and gave It buil to answer the charge of riot, assault, and restate, at the Assizes. Burgin, a private, was committed' on the same charge. Fraser is still at large. An account of these dis- graceful proceedings has been forwankd by the Magistrates to Lord Hill.

On Thursday week, a lire destroyed Elliott's Motel Devonport. It broke out in the chant !;VI: Of Major Monition, of the Fourth Regiment of Foot. The Majer who was. very infirm and st.venty-four years' old, was burnt to death. It is said in some of the papers that lie was drunk. A Coroner's Jury returned a verdict of a Accidental death." The damage to property is estimated at 2,500/.
