The Magazine of Art (Cassell and Co.) for March has

an interest- ing account of the work of Felicien Rope by M. Emile Verhaeren, Although a Belgian by birth, Rops has become saturated with that element of French art which delights in " Sataniques " and " Dia- boliques." He and Bandelaire, to whom he is compared, we are told, derived inspirations from the Black Mass. The picture of "Satan Sowing Tares" is certainly very powerful.
