Oh yes!

Sir: The admission by Taki ('High life', 14 March) that 'I don't listen to modern music, or buy records' is, to mind, disappointing. Having enjoyed his previous attacks on the aftermath of Lennon (I have always been ,a Lennon fan, but I admit that it did get a bit out of hand), it is a pity that Taki has never listened to the last album which Lennon produced before he died. For he would then have realised that this genius musician of the last 18 years — eight with McCartneY Co. and ten on his own— had decided to give Yoko Ono the opportunity to compose an,d sing her own songs. (In 'Double FantasY which they co-produced, Ono and LennOil each sung seven of their own compositions). For the first time, with this record, Ono surprised so many of her former critics an, d was widely acclaimed 'in her own write . Taki is of course entitled to take the view that Ono's voice resembles the sound of a tortured cat, but it is quite wrong for him to suggest that it is only now, since Lennon. s death, that she has decided to use her voice for commercial profit. There must be manY more tales of Greece for Taki to recount instead of this sloppy and inaccurate stuff.
