What result can there be from such words, justified in

them- selves though many of us think them to be, than that the French Press will defend itself ? Defence in such circumstances must mean bitterness. Though we do not want in any way to modify what we have said in support of Mr. Lloyd George on the merits of the case, we can only hope that our French friends will understand that Mr. Lloyd George is Mr. Lloyd George and that his methods are his own.
