A great public meeting, attended by the highest officers of

the Army—Lord Stanley, Lord Malmesbury, Sir Charles Wood, and others—was held on Friday, at Willis's Rooms, to consult on the erection of a statue to the late Lord Clyde. The meeting was a most cordial one ; speaker after speaker bore the highest testimony to the character and ability of the Field-Marshal, and it was re- solved to erect a statue to his honour in London, the expense to be borne by a subscription opened in England and in India.
