Ernest's Golden Thread. By Edith C. Kenyon. (W. and R.

Chambers.)—This is a story, touching, but not too harrowing, of a little lad who persistently holds on to the right under very adverse circumstances. The " golden thread " is an image borrowed from an allegory which the boy has heard from a teacher, and which he applies with the happiest result to his own case.
